Understanding Light in Photography

In the realm of photography, the terms “blue hour” and “golden hour” refer to those magical moments just before sunrise and after sunset. During these periods, the sunlight is soft, colors are rich, and the overall atmosphere is enchanting. Let’s delve into what makes these times so special for photography.

Blue Hour

Blue hour occurs roughly 10 minutes before sunrise and after sunset. The predominant color palette during this time leans towards shades of blue. The soft, diffused light creates a serene and calming effect, perfect for capturing tranquil landscapes and cityscapes alike.

Golden Hour

Following blue hour, and approximately 60 minutes after sunrise or before sunset, is golden hour. As the name suggests, this period bathes everything in a warm, golden hue. The light during golden hour is flattering, casting long shadows and adding a beautiful warmth to your photos.
