Framing

Using Frames to Enhance Your iPhone Photos

Framing composition involves using elements like windows, doors, mirrors, or natural gaps in the scene to frame your subject. This technique guides the viewer’s attention towards the main subject while possibly adding aesthetic appeal or concealing unnecessary elements in the background.

Examples of Framing Composition

The clouds framed by the airplane window, which was taken with an iPhone, highlights the focal point outside the airplane compared to the outdoor view

This is the simplest form of framing composition, where a window is used to frame the subject. The outside view through the window becomes secondary, with the main focus placed inside the frame.

Shadows and a distant door in a dormitory corridor frame the subject, highlighting depth and focus.

A fisherman framed by the gaps between coconut trees by the seaside, captured with an iPhone.

In this photo taken by the seaside, the gaps between coconut trees create a natural frame, focusing attention on the fisherman within the gap.

💡

Framing composition not only directs attention to the subject but also adds depth and context to your photos. It allows you to creatively manipulate the viewer’s perspective and create visually engaging compositions using everyday surroundings.
